Just a Ramble Today
So much to do so much accomplished today, from school volunteering, some work things, personal chores, flu shot, dinner made then off to work for a few and now blogging.
It Feels like it has been months since I have really found a day off, but I am sure it will come one day. And I mean a true day off, no house work or emails or little things just to get them done. Time for myself. I know that we have enjoyed time alone and time together as a family, but REST is a well sought after commodity for me and for my family. This was made very clear in the sermon this past Sunday, as WE ( me, myself and I, along with the family) understand that we are not alone in trying to find rest and take time to be a family and less time being is such a rush. But just because we understand, does this mean we will make it a habit? Not sure yet, we have only taken one Sabbath since the sermon last Sunday, and what a day it was!
Last Sunday, prior to service, we packed up a lunch and made a plan to take a long family hike again after church. So there in church troy and I listened to the sermon on REST and the Sabbath, many times we looked at one another and smiled. We both knew we needed to take that break from the crazy mixed up world around us and REST. We both have been working weekend, taking kidos here and there, and trying to keep the house up and running, but had we taken time to be a family? NO! NO for sure, was our unspoken answer.
So God had the plan for us before we even heard the Word. As a family we took our packed lunch and drove to a beautiful state park and did an almost 2.5 hour wooded hike.
The boys were troopers again this Sunday, not as much as a crazy straight up hike as last time, but still a good walk and wonderful sights along the way. We hiked to Indian Chair, which overlooked a beautiful valley below, filled with the most amazing colors of fall.
Then onto the Wolf Den, not the casino concert hall, but the Real Wolf den that Mr. Putnam hid in to kill the
wolf that was taking his live stock. Amazing story to tell the
kids as we sat beside the Den. In general beyond all the moans and groans, I think the boys had a good day spending time with the family and really talking as we hiked int he woods. I am already looking forward to another hike with my family on the Sabbath.

What does the Bible really say about the Sabbath? It is generally assumed that Sunday is the correct day. Is it possible that all of these churches are wrong on this fundamental doctrine? And, after all, does it make any difference? Do we not have to adjust our religion to the changing times? Was not the law—including the Sabbath—"nailed to the cross" when Christ died? What about scriptures like Galatians 4:10 or Colossians 2:16—do they not prove that it does not matter which day we keep? Was not Christ resurrected on Sunday, thus His day is the "Lord's Day?" http://sabbath.org/
