Advent Online? and beyond....

Advent is the period preceding the Christmas Season and starts the sunday closet to November 30th which is the feast day of St. Adnrew the Apostle and covers four sundays there after.  The word Advent, from latin and mean "the coming".  For centuries it has been a time of spritual reflection and anticipation for the coming of the Jesus Christ to us!

So, here I am looking for some sort of NEW traditions for our two boys (7 and 4), because I always remembered that as a child we would be advent calendars.  Not like the new fancy chololate filled ones, but simple ones with little flaps and a speical little image behind each tab.  My grandmother always got them for my brother and I and would give them to us when we visited.  But as I look I have found facts and many cool sites online.

Great site that just needs some editing on the dates but gives you a clean cut plan of action if you would like daily devotionals during advent.

As I was looking I found a few sites that are intresting and I hope to find and post one a day as my ADVENT CALENDAR.  Have your own Advent Traditions or suggested sites?  Leave responce below.

Here are the first days Advent Picks!

Use this calendar to count down the days of Advent with quizzes, articles, devotionals, and much more.

This fabric chain advent calendar is modeled after decorative paper chains and includes one link that can be removed each day leading up to Christmas. Inside each link is a slip of paper describing a family activity for each day, ranging from singing Christmas carols to wrapping presents. (AP PHOTO)

I'm doing something similar to the fabric chain. I brought a calendar from Kohl's with little doors to open and I'm putting an activity to celebrate the season each day.
